Meet Dr. Lukas Mees, MD

Lukas Mees, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained refractive and cataract surgeon who helps patients see clearly so they can do the things they love. He specializes in cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, LASIK, ICL, PRK, and other advanced vision correction procedures.

Dr. Mees trained at some of the country's top institutions. He completed his undergraduate degree at Emory University, then earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He finished ophthalmology residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Committed to surgical excellence, he pursued a refractive surgery fellowship at ClearSight LASIK & Lens in Oklahoma City, where he performed over 1,300 refractive procedures including LASIK, ICL, PRK, and refractive lens exchange. This training distinguishes Dr. Mees as one of 4% of refractive surgeons who are World College of Refractive Surgery (WCRS) fellowship trained.

Dr. Mees joined Santa Barbara Eyecare in 2026 and is now welcoming new patients.

​​​​​​​Outside the clinic, he enjoys running, golf, exploring national parks, and spending time with his wife and their miniature schnauzer, Patterson.
